Bring on the 2006 Season!

The Dreadsox are almost half way through their fall 2006 season, and are currently sporting a 4-4 record with 10 games remaining.

The Dreads were able to climb back to .500 ball with a sweep of Hyatt on 7/31. The Dreads stuck it to the Hyatts like they were a bunch of Hiltons, erupting for 14 runs in the first inning en route to a 28-12 romp. The Dreadsox didn’t let up in the second game, as everyone contributed at least a base hit each for a 19-4 win.

(Partial Spring/Summer Recap)

The Dreads kicked off their 2006 season on Monday, April 17 versus HDR Engineering. The Dreads dropped the first game of the double header by a score of 14-10, despite turning a triple play in the 3rd inning. The Dreads then shut down the potentially potent HDR offense in the second game, en route to a 12-2 victory.

On April 24, the Dreadsox took on WMC Mongers at Hidden Valley Park. In the first game, the Dreadsox handed the Mongers their only loss of the season so far, a close 14-13 contest. The second game ended in a 12-7 Dreadsox loss when the lights went out in the bottom of the 7th inning with a Dreadsox runner on 2nd and 1 out.

The Dreads were swept by Barclay Dean on May 1 by scores of 15-5 and 4-11. At least they avoided any injuries while playing on Marymoor 6.

The Dreadsox couldn’t quite hold on to their lead in the botttom of the 7th inning of the first game against Fighting Feekers on May 8. Those Feekers came up with 3 tuns in the inning to steal a 8-9 win. The Dreadsox rebounded in the 2nd game, holding on for a 9-13 win.

The Dreadsox got their record back to .500 on May 15, sweeping the Sweat Hogs by scores of 18-7 and 2-15 at Marymoor Park.

Next up for the Dreadsox is a double header against Big Log on Monday, May 22 at Hidden Valley Park, field #1. The first game starts at 8:30 pm.

Rule Changes
Some of the league rules have changed slightly this year. They include:

  • Use of standard USSSA pitch arc, where pitched balls must arc a minimum of 3' from the point of release to a maximum of 10' from the ground.
  • Courtesy runners will now be the player of the same gender that is closest in the lineup batting previous to the current player that is not already on base. If that player needs a courtesy runner, keep going backwards in the lineup until a suitable courtesy runner is found.
  • If a batter (both male and female) is walked on four straight balls with no strikes, that batter is awarded first and second base, and the following batter has the option of taking an automatic walk or batting.

Site Inprovements
We’re still working on improving the Dreadsox website, and are hoping to add more content this year. Some of these additions include:

  • Catching up on game scores and recaps.
  • Catching up on player carreer stats.
  • Dreadsox Media (yet to be added) including team/game photos and video clips.
  • Team and Player Record Books.
