Game Recap:
The Dreadsox started off the 1997 season the same way they ended the 1996 season...
scrounging for women. With only 2 of their women showing up, they recruited the
services of Ivy and Jenni, two young women who just happened to be at the field
practicing. This enabled the Dreadsox to play without a forfeit. The Dreadsox
started off nicely with a lead-off homerun by Mike Senator Morrisroe,
but that was all they could muster in the first. The Dreads then went into their
dreaded first inning defensive mode, and allowed 10 PS Colors runs. The Dreads
were able to get 4 runs in the top of the second, while holding the opposition to
three in the bottom frame. Jay J-Bang Matsudaira led off the third
inning with a solo homerun, and his sister Tracie Spacie Matsudaira
scored on a Kevin The Joker Hayashida triple. PS Colors scored another
3 runs in the bottom of the third, then the Dreadsox rallied in the fourth. The
Senator led off with a double, then scored on a Chris Bootch Burch
double. Bootch scored on a J-Bang triple, who then scored on a Spacie base hit.
Spacie scored on a Jerry Cheez-n-Macs Kraft double. Kraft advanced to
third on a Karen Blister Dedrick base hit, then scored when the Joker
ripped a double. Although the Dreads held PS scoreless in the bottom of the fourth,
they were unable to complete the comeback. With the long, 10-run first inning, the
teams ran out of time to complete the game, as the game ended in a 12-16 Dreadsox
loss.
The Senator had a strong game at the plate, hitting 3-for-3 with 2 doubles and a
homer. The Joker also was efficient at the plate, collecting a single, a double,
and a triple in his 3 at-bats.
