Game Recap:
The Dreadsox almost completed a dramatic comeback, as they narrowed the gap to
within 1 after being behind by as many as 12 runs. Once again, the first and
fourth innings were the Dreadsox downfall, as No Stealin’ scored 12 of
their 16 runs in those two innings. The Dreadsox were down 4-16 after 4 innings,
then scored 3 in the top of the 5th & shut down No Stealin’ in the
bottom of the 5th to avoid ending the game on the 10-run mercy rule. The Dreads
added another score in the sixth inning, and again held No Stealin’ scoreless
to enter the 7th inning down 8-16. With 2 outs and a runner on second, things
things looked bleak for the Dreadsox. But consecutive singles by “Jolly”
John S, Lori “Tiger” Johnson, Vince “Pako” Brooks, Sandy
“Sander” Hallstrom, Kurt “Li’l Hurt” Hayashida, and
“H.R. Puff’n” Steff Zabriskie, then a double by Eric “Shady”
Shadle scored 7 runs to bring the score to 15-16. But, with Shady in scoring
position, Alison “Big Al” was unable to beat out the throw to first
after hitting a ground ball to shortstop to end the comeback and the game.
Vince “Pako” Brooks had a hot bat, erupting for 3 base hits, scoring
twice and clubbing in 3 RBI’s. “Jolly” John also had a nice game,
going 3-for-3 with 3 runs scored and 2 RBI”s.
