Game Recap:
The Dreadsox began their 1999 fall season with their worst defeat in history.
Things did not go smoothly from the beginning, as the Dreadsox only had 3 women
present at game time. Luckily, Western Wireless allowed the Dreadsox to begin the
game with three women and five men in the field. Western Wireless took advantage
of the Dreadsox lack of fielders, as they ran up 7 runs in the first inning. 3B
Vince Pako Brooks made a nice leaping snag of a line drive for one of
the outs in the inning. The Dreadsox came storming back in their half of the first
inning... well, at least they meant to... but they were retired 1-2-3. Sandy and
Philip Hallstrom showed up in the second inning, so the Dreadsox were able to field
4 women and 4 men for the second inning, during which the Wireless ones rang up 9
more runs. The Dreadsox managed to get on the board with 2 runs in the bottom of
the second. Western Wireless added another 9 runs in the top of the third, to which
the Dreadsox answered with one of their own. In the fourth inning, Western Wireless
again scored 9 runs, and the Dreadsox werent even given the chance to take
their final at-bat, as the umpire foolishly didnt believe that a 32-run rally
was just about to occur.
The Dreadsox didnt bat all that poorly, getting 7 hits on only 15 at bats. Lori
Tiger Johnson and Philip Phlipper Hallstrom made the most of
their attempts, as Lori batted 2-for-2 with an RBI, and Philip pounded a triple in his
only plate appearance of the game.
