Game Recap:
The Dreadsox completed the sweep of Pella with a 16-6 victory. The win gave the
Dreadsox their best record in team history, as they finished the year at 10-4.
Due to the length of the first game, the second game was played with a short pitch
count, where the batter immediately came to the plate with a 1 ball, 1 strike count.
In the spirit of the quick game, the Dreadsox jumped out to a quick 4-1 lead after 1
inning on come clutch hitting. Suzanne Su-Xanadu Hartsock led off the game
with a base on balls, then advanced to second on Curtis Knocker Nakamuras
base hit. After two Dreadsox pop outs, Cindy Helmet Louie hit a ground ball,
which Su-Xanadu had to hop over like Mario jumping over a barrel in the Donkey Kong video
game, before it made its way to the shortstop. With good hustle, Louie beat the throw
to first, loading the bases. A clutch base hit by Kurt Lil Hurt
Hayashida drove in 2 runs, and a single by Lori Tiger Johnson drove in 2 more.
After the Dreadsox were shut out in the top of the second, Pella tied the score with 3
runs in the bottom of 2. The Dreadsox became tired of fooling around, as they scored five
runs in the top of the third, fueled by doubles by Knocker Nakamura, Helmet Louie, and The
Lil Hurt. After holding Pella scoreless in the bottom of the third, the Dreads again
went to work offensively, as Vince Pako Brooks led the inning off with a triple,
and Susan Smiley Lyons drove a long fly ball to score Pako on a sacrifice. The
rest of the damage came on base hits by Jay J-Bang Matsudaira, Marc Psycho
Nagle, Philip Phlipper Hallstrom, Knocker Nakamura and Chris Bootch
Burch, and walks by Su-Xanadu, Sandy Sander Hallstrom, and Helmet Louie. With
another set of games needing to be played on the field, the Dreadsox held Pella to two runs
in the bottom of the forth as time ran out.
The Knocker Nakamura had an outstanding game at the plate, batting 3-for-3, scoring 3 runs,
and driving in 3. Helmet Louie, back from a couple seperate injuries, hit 2-for-2, scored 3
runs, walked once, and batted in 3 runs. The Lil Hurt also went 2-for-2 with a run
scored and 3 RBIs.
Play of the game:
With runners on first and third, and two outs in the bottom of the fourth, Bootch
Burch scooped up a hopping ground ball... I mean scooped WAY up, like a Karch Kiraly volleyball
jump-set. The ball levitated in the air for a moment, then fell back into Bootchs mitt
with just enough time for him to fire to first base (accurately, at that!) for the final out
of the game.
