Game Recap:
The Dreadsox played some outstanding softball against Pegasus Pizza & Pasta, and
finally won a close game, 10-7. The Dreads took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning
when consecutive sacrifice flies by Philip “Phlipper” Hallstrom and
“H.R. Puff’n” Steff Zabriskie advanced Kevin “The Joker”
Hayashida from second to home. They allowed the dough tossers to tie the game in the
top of the second, but regained the lead in the bottom of the second on Alison “Big
Al” Hawkins’s Fielder’s Choice single that scored Cindy “Helmet”
Louie from third.
The Dreads played great defensively, allowing only 5 base runners and 1 run through the
first four innings. Left fielder Philip Hallstrom chased down 7 fly balls in the game.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Dreadsox tallied four big runs. Lori “Tiger”
Johnson hit one of her three singles during the inning, knocking in 2 of her 3 RBI’s
for the day. Both teams scored a run each in the fifth inning, the Dreads getting a solo
home run from Jay “J-Bang” Matsudaira on a close play at home plate. The cheese
graters rallied for 2 more runs in the top of the sixth inning, but the Dreadsox answered
with 3 runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth for a 10-4 lead. Pegasus Pizza made
one final surge in the top of the seventh, but the Dreadsox stifled them after 3 runs to
hold on to a 10-7 victory.
