Game Recap:
The Dreadsox completed a sweep of a double header opponent for the first time in team history by winning the second game vs Pegasus Pizza & Pasta by a score of 23-8. The Dreadsox were basically handed 3 runs, as the pizza bakers started a new pitcher who walked the first 6 batters he faced. By the time Pegasus put in their original dough thrower, the Dreadsox had racked up 5 runs with no outs and the bases loaded, en route to a 9 run first inning. The Dreadsox then shut down the pizza posse with a 1-2-E6-3 defensive inning. Dreadsox bats continued to shine in the second inning, scoring 4 runs on 4 base hits, a double, a triple and a sacrifice. The Dreadsox again shut down Pegasus in the bottom half of the inning, but Pegasus retired the Dreadsox 1-2-3 in the top of the 3rd. Pegasus finally got on the board with 3 runs in the bottom of the 3rd, then the teams scored 2 runs each during their turn at bat in the fourth. Pegasus could have scored more runs in the bottom of the fourth, but catcher Alison “Big Al” Hawkins intimidated a runner away from home plate, catching him in a pickle. Good thing we practiced pickles in one of our practices, for pitcher Sandy “Sander” Hallstrom was in perfect position to receive the throw from Big Al and make the tag on the base runner. The Dreadsox had another big inning in the top of the fifth, getting 8 insurance runs on 6 doubles by Jay “J-Bang” Matsudaira, Sandy “Sander” Hallstrom, Chris “Bootch” Burch, Kevin “The Joker” Hayashida, Lori “Tiger” Johnson and Philip “Phlipper” Hallstrom.

Third baseman Curtis “Knocker” Nakamura and shortstop Chris “Bootch” Burch, when they weren’t seeing who could throw the ball the highest against the fence behind first base, had hot bats. Nakamura went 4-for-4 with 3 runs scored, 2 RBI’s and a walk. Burch was 4-for-4 with 4 runs scored, 3 RBI’s and 2 doubles. Lori Johnson and Kevin Hayashida also had solid games at the plate. Johnson went 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored, 4 RBI’s, a double and a walk. Hayashida went 3-for-3 with 5 RBI’s, 2 runs scored, a double and 2 walks.
