Game Recap:
The Dreadsox completed their sweep of Softball Redefined with a 26-5 victory. Marc
Psycho Nagel started off the game with a double, and Dreadsox bats stayed
hot as they drove in 10 runs in the first inning, highlighted by Susan Lyons
3-run triple. New Dreadsock Amy Auyang made her pitching debut for the Dreadsox, much
to the delight of regular pitcher Sandy Sander Hallstrom. Softball Redefined
scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning, and had a runner on third base when
Jay J-Bang Matsudaira went up high at first base to snag a line drive to
retire the side. Auyang and the error-free Dreadsox defense shut down S.R. in the 2nd
and 3rd innings. Meanwhile, the Dreadsox offense continued to shine, scoring 3 runs in
the 2nd inning. In the third, Vince Brooks provided a memorable play when he hit a slow
grounder to third base. The throw to first was dropped, and the ball trickled toward the
first baseline fence. Vince stepped back into the field of play, so the first baseman
scooped up the ball and chased Vince back to first base. The first baseman stumbled, put
the tag on Vince, got tangled up in Vinces feet, fell, and dropped the ball. Vince,
seeing the ball rolling around on the ground again, scurried over to second base, and
eventually scored during the 7 run inning.
The Dreadsox bats were red hot, as the team combined for a .756 batting average in the game.
Free agent recruits Amy Auyang and Susan Lyons contributed hugely, as Amy produced 4 base
hits in 4 at bats, scored 4 runs, and collected 5 RBIs. Susan found her stroke in
the second game, as she pounded 3 triples and a single, scored 3 runs, and batted in 8
runs. Vince Pako Brooks also provided some offensive spark, batting 3-for-3,
scoring 3 runs, and gathering 2 RBIs.
