Game Recap:
The Dreadsox extended their winning streak to three in a row, as they beat Softball
Redefined in the first game of their double-header by a score of 8-12. The Dreadsox
welcomed a couple of their new recruits, Susan Lyons and Amy Auyang (no nicknames yet),
both of who contributed to the win. The Dreads took quick care of their opponent in the
first inning, as Redefined didnt make it past first base. 3B Vince Pako
Brooks ended the inning with a graceful tippie-toe catch, which prompted one of the
oppenents to comment, Wow, that looked like a ballet move.
Kevin The Joker Hayashida put the Dreadsox on the board early with a lead-off
home run. When Philip Phlipper Hallstrom was given a 2-base walk, it set up
three more runs for the inning, as Phlipper, Kurt The Lil Hurt Hayashida,
and Cindy Helmet Louie crossed home plate.
After again holding S.R. scoreless in the top of the second, Susan (no nickname yet) Lyons
led the inning off with a fly ball to center field which the center fielder dropped for a
2 base errror. Curtis Knocker Nakamura, the next batter up, drove in Susan with
a double. Knocker then scored when Marc Psycho Nagle masterfully put so much spin
on a pop-up to first that the ball squirted right out of the 1st basemans mitt.
After a scoreless third inning, S.R. got on the board with 3 runs on a series of good base
hits in the top of the fourth. The rally could have been larger, had it not been for a nice
Dreadsox play. With the bases loaded, Softball Redefineds Ned the Friendly hit a shot
into center field to score the runner from third base. CF Curtis Nakamura quickly scooped up
the ball and threw to SS Jay Matsudaira, who turned and fired home in plenty of time for Susan
Lyons to make the catch & put the tag on the runner trying to score from second base.
Vince Brooks led off the Dreadsox half of the fourth with a 2-base walk, setting up Jay
Matsudairas 3-run homer. Curtis Nakamura and Marc Nagle also scored in the inning for a
11-3 Dreadsox lead.
The Dreadsox added an insurance run when Philip Hallstrom scored on a Vince Brooks single in
the fifth, and held off Softball Redefineds 5-run rally to win 12-8.
