Game Recap:
The Dreadsox played much better in the second game of the series, but fell just short of
pulling off a nice come from behind victory. After a scoreless first inning, the Dreadsox
found themselves down 7-0 heading into the bottom of the second. Shaggy Sheri
Smith got a mini rally started with a lead-off single, and scored on an Eric Shady
Shadle triple. Shady finished the scoring for the inning when Sandy Sander
Hallstrom singled to right center field for a 7-2 margin. Suds made it 8-2 after 3 innings,
but the Dreadsox turned things around in the bottom of the 4th. Suds decided to bring in a
relief pitcher who appeared to have been a proud attendee of Bobby Ayala pitching control
camp. The Dreadsox compiled 6 bases on balls en route to a 5 run inning, highlighted by a
David aka Cody Brown Senan 2 RBI single with the bases loaded. The Dreadsox took
a 9-8 lead in the 5th inning when Kurt Lil Hurt Hayashidas single
with the bases loaded scored H.R. Puffn Steff Zabriskie and Marc Psycho
Nagel. But the Dreadsox were not able to hold on, as Suds brewed 2 runs to retake the lead
in the top of the 6th, then got 4 insurance runs in the top of the 7th. The Dreadsox would
not give up, though. Mary Scott The Chief Senan led off the inning with a single,
but two Dreads quickly popped out. (One of the pop outs was to the Suds catcher, who broke
into a little dance which resembled Mary Catherine Gallagers Superstar pose.)
Shady then doubled to move The Chief to 3rd with 2 outs. Cindy Helmet Louie smacked
a line drive single into the shallow left field gap to score The Chief and Shady. Chris
Bootch Burch then spanked a drive to the right center field gap for a solid triple...
TRIPLE, I say. Bootch was waived around third as the ball reached the relay man, and was fired
to the pitcher covering home. The game ended, as the throw home beat Bootch by 4 or 5 steps,
and the tag for the final out was applied.
Defensive Play of the Game:
SS Kurt Lil Hurt Hayashida caught a pop fly in the 7th inning!
Offensive Play of the Game:
Cindy Helmet Louies clutch 2 out 2 RBI frozen rope single to keep the Dreadsox
hopes alive in the bottom of the 7th.
Laugh of the Game:
2B Mary Scott The Chief Senan received a toss from the short stop, bobbled it,
bent down to pick it up, and up-ended the runner as his momentum from running to second base
left him draped over The Chiefs back. A bit like Twister, but without the spinny thing.
