Game Recap:
The Dreadsox started off their summer 2001 season on a bad note. They were handed a 10-run
rout by Northwest Suites in a five inning game. The Dreads were in the hole early, as they
allowed 3 runs to score in the top of the first inning. The rusty socks, who have had dismal
practice attendance, were unable to get a hit in the scoreless bottom of the first inning.
The Dreads dug themselves a deeper hole in the second inning, giving up 5 more runs to
Northwest Suites. The Dreadsox still couldnt get their bats going in the bottom of
the second, collecting only 1 base hit, while hitting into 3 fielders choices. Already
down 8-0 in the third, the Dreads were pummeled for 5 more runs in the top half of the third
inning. The Dreads finally got some offensive production in the bottom of the third, scoring
4 runs to cut the deficit to 13-4. But that was as close as the Dreads would get, as Northwest
Suites tallied a run each in the 4th and 5th innings, while the Dreadsox could muster only 1
more run.
Defensive Play of the Game:
With the bases loaded in the top of the first inning, Dreadsox pitcher Sandy Sander
Hallstrom fielded a ground ball hit back to the mound. Sander fired back to catcher Cindy
Helmet Louie, who not only stepped on home plate for the force out at home, but
applied the tag to the runner, just to make sure.
Offensive Play of the Game:
With runners on first and third, and two outs in the bottom of the third inning, Jay
J-Bang Matsudaira swatted a drive into deep right field. As J-Bang cruised into
third with a triple, Northwest Suites attempted to throw out Philip Phlipper
Hallstom at home plate. The relay throw to the plate was way high, and got away from the
catcher, allowing J-Bang to score on the error.
Laugh of the Game:
None recorded.
