Game Recap:
The Dreadsox won for the first time this season, taking care of Ciber by a
score of 17-9. The score was pretty close through most of the game, until
the Dreadsox broke away in the sixth inning. Cyber retired the Dreadsox in
order in the top of the first, then scored two runs in the bottom of the
inning for their only lead of the game. The Dreadsox came back in the top
of the 2nd, scoring 3 runs when Kurt “Lil’ Hurt” Hayashida
doubled, Sandy “Sander” Hallstrom singled, then Eric “Shady”
Shadle homered. The Dreads then retired Ciber 3-up 3-down in the bottom of
the second. The Dreadsox then scored 2 more runs on triples by Curtis
“Knocker” Nakamura and Lori “Tiger” Johnson. But Ciber
came back with three runs of their own to tie the score at 5 apiece after
3 innings. The Dreadsox scored another 3 runs in the 4th on doubles by
Lil’ Hurt and John “Squatch” Hawkins, and singles by Sander
and Shady. The Dreadsox held onto their 3-run lead through 5 innings, then
added 6 insurance runs in the sixth.
The Dreadsox played error-free defense, and swung well offensively. The
Li’l Hurt hit 3 doubles in his 3 at-bats, scored 3 runs, and batted
in 2 others. “Tiger” Johnson smacked a double and a triple for 3
RBI’s, and “Shady” Shadle added a base hit to his 2 home runs
for 5 RBI’s.
