Game Recap:
The Dreadsox dominated the Bulldogs with a 29-5 thrashing in the first game of their double
header. Kevin “The Joker” Hayashida, who was feverishly anticipating the grudge match,
led the game off with a double. When the dust settled after the top of the first inning, the
Dreadsox were up to a 9-0 lead. After retiring the Bulldogs 1-2-3 in the bottom of the first,
the Dreadsox piled up 5 more runs in the 2nd. The Dreadsox scored 4 runs in the top of the 4th,
powered by The Joker’s bases loaded triple. The Dreadsox allowed the Bulldogs to get onto
the board in the bottom of the 4th, as 5 little doggies crossed home plate. But any dream of
a canine comeback was squashed in the fifth, as the Dreadsox got doubles from Jay “J-Bang”
Matsudaira, Kurt “Li’l Hurt” Hayashida and Marc “Psycho” Nagle, and a
homerun from Susan “Smiley” Lyons en route to a 11-run inning. The 10-run mercy rule
was enforced after 4-1/2 innings, as each Dreadsox player scored at least 1 run in the game.
The Dreadsox played superbly, as their defense allowed only 7 hits in an error-free game, and
their offense rocked the Bulldogs for 31 hits. Kevin “The Joker” Hayashida, Amy
“Animal” Auyang, Vince “Pako” Brooks, Jay “J-Bang” Matsudaira,
“H.R. Puff’n” Stefanie Zabriskie, Kurt “Li’l Hurt” Hayashida, and
Philip “Phlipper” Hallstrom each batted 1.000 for the game, combining for 20 runs, 23
hits, and 17 RBI’s with 4 doubles and a triple.
