Game Recap:
The Dreadsox played the second game against a full 10-person HDR team, yet still
completed the sweep with an 18-3 victory. The Dreadsox blew the game open from the
very first inning. After building up a 2-0 lead with the bases loaded on singles by
Jay “J-Bang” Matsudaira, Kurt “Li’l Hurt” Hayashida, Lori
“Tiger” Johnson, Curtis “Knocker” Nakamura, and “H.R.
Puff’n” Stefanie Zabriskie, Eric “Shady” Shadle blasted a shot
down the left field line for an inside-the-park grand slam homerun. HDR cut the
Dreadsox lead in half in the bottom of the first inning, to make it 6-3 after one,
but that was all they were to score in the game. Meanwhile, the Dreadsox offensive
assault continued for two more innings. In the top of the second, Philip “Phlipper”
Hallstrom, Angela “Funky” Porter, and Vince “Pako” Brooks singled
to load the bases. Two runs scored when J-Bang doubled into left center field, and
another scored on a Li’l Hurt double. J-Bang and Li’l Hurt eventually scored
on RBI’s by Tiger Johnson and H.R. Puff’n Steff. The Dreadsox got 6 more
runs in the top of the third inning. Susanne “Su-Xanadu” Hartsock led off
the inning with a base hit, then scored on another Shady homerun. After Kevin
“The Joker” Hayashida walked, Phlipper, Funky Porter and Cindy “Helmet”
Louie singled to produce 3 more runs. Tiger Johnson added another RBI when she doubled
to score Vince “Pako” Brooks, who had reached first on a fielder’s choice.
The Dreadsox defense was again stellar, holding HDR to 7 hits... that’s fewer hits
than New Kids on the Block produced! The Dreadsox held HDR scoreless for 4 of the
5 innings played, and committed only 1 error. Offensively, Shady Shadle went 3-for-3,
scored 3 runs, and batted in 6 on two homeruns and a single. Funky Porter also continued
to hit well, going 3-for-3, scoring 2 runs and plating another. The Li’l Hurt also
had a 3-for-3 performance, scoring 2 runs and getting an RBI on a 2nd inning double.
