Game Recap:
The Dreadsox used some great hitting and crafty base-running to extend their winning
streak to 7 games with a 24-5 thrashing of TVI Second Handers. The two teams were
locked in a tight battle through 4 innings. They each scored a run in the first inning,
then TVI pulled ahead with a run in the bottom of the second inning. After no scoring
in the third, H.R. Puffn Steff Zabriskie, Kurt Lil Hurt
Hayashida and Susan Smiley Lyons loaded the bases for Jay J-Bang
Matsudaira, who shanked a weak piddler down the thirdbase line. The pitcher scooped up
the ball and fired home for the force attempt, but the ball got away from the catcher,
allowing Zabriskie and Hayashida to score. Susanne Su-Xanadu Hartsock then
hit an elusive fly to left field, and when the left fielder dropped the ball, Lyons scored
the Dreadsox third and final run of the inning. Unfortunately, TVI also scored 3 runs in
the inning to hold on to a 4-5 lead after 4 innings.
The Dreadsox began their onslaught in the fifth inning, as Vince Snagglepuss
Brooks, Angela Babble-On Porter, Philip Phlipper Hallstrom, Sandy
Sander Hallstrom and HR Puffn Steff collected base hits,
followed by a Smiley Lyons double for five runs in the inning. After holding
the Second Handers scoreless in the bottom of the fifth, the Dreadsox continued the carnage
in the top of the 6th. With 13 base hits, a double by Phlipper and a homer by
Eric Shady Shadle, all Dreadsox crossed the plate at least 1 time in the 15-run
inning. The TVI manager decided that the lead was too large to overcome, and chose to not
take their turn at bat, declaring No mas... no mas to end the game.
All Dreadsox (with the exeption of Jay J-Bang Matsudaira, who could barely get
the ball past the pitcher...) hit well in the game, collecting at least 2 base hits.
Smiley Lyons had a 3-for-4 performance, scoring 2 runs & batting in 2 with
her 5th inning double. Su-Xanadu also hit 3-for-4, scored 2 runs and batted in 1.
Shady collected 3 RBIs on 3-for-4 hitting with a homer, and Phlipper
was a perfect 4-for-4 with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored.
Play of the Game:
Sandy Sander Hallstroms pickle in the sixth inning. With the bases loaded,
HR Puffn Steff hit a line drive to the left center gap, scoring the runner from third.
Sander was held at third by base coach Shady Shadle, but Curtis Knocker Nakamura
rounded second, forcing Sander to make a run for it. Sander broke for home, catching the
attention of the defense. So, instead of tagging out the Knocker (who had fallen on his keister
trying to get back to second base), the shortstop went after Sander, who mesmorized him with a
little Hoochie-Koochie chest shake like 70s Latina sex symbol Charo, and dove
safely back to third base under the tag.
