Game Recap:
The Dreadsox put up a better fight in the second game of the doubleheader vs Slaves of Tim, but
came up short 6-11. Chris Bootch Burch started things off with a double, then later
scored when Kurt Lil Hurt Hayashida grounded into a fielders choice.
H.R. Puffn Steff Zabriskie reached first on a fielders choice, then the
Dreads went on a two out rally. Philip Phlipper Hallstrom doubled, then Cindy
Helmet Louie hit a 2-RBI single. Helmet then scored on a Jay J-Bang
Matsudaira base hit to finish the scoring for the inning. The Dreadsox defense held tough in
the bottom of the first, holding the enslaved ones to only one run. Unfortunately, the Dreads
were unable to score in the top of the second, then watched their lead evaporate, as Tim whipped
his servants into shape for 7 runs. After another scoreless inning for the Dreads, the Slaves got
a run in the bottom of the 3rd. Then the Dreads scored 2 runs in the top of the 4th inning, thanks
to doubles by Lil Hurt and Phlipper, and base hits by newcomer Deborah Howler
Wolfe and J-Bang. But the Dreads ran out of time to complete a comeback, as the Slaves scored
another run in the bottom of the 4th, then held the Dreads scoreless in the top of the 5th as the
games reached their time limit.
Defensive Play of the Game:
Chris Bootch Burch, playing a few innings at 3rd base, gobbled up a hard hit ground
ball in the bottom of the fifth, and fired (acurately!) to first for the first out of the inning.
Offensive Play of the Game:
LF Philip Phlipper Hallstrom came through during his two at-bats. In both appearances,
he came to the plate with runners on base and two outs, and hit a double in both at-bats.
Laugh of the Game:
Marc Psycho Nagel led off the second inning by smacking the stuffing out of the ball.
Well... at least he meant to. Marc dribbled a weak roller between the pitcher and the third base
line. The pitcher scooped up the ball, turned, and threw to first. The throw was a bit off target,
causing the first baseman to stretch. Seeing that the first baseman was going to have troubles
fielding the throw, Psycho did a little hippity-hop move that somehow coaxed the umpire into
calling him safe.
