Game Recap:
The Dreadsox dropped the first game of the double header vs Blue Lightning 18-6. The Dreadsox got down
early, as Blue Lightning scored 3 runs in the top of the first inning. The damage could have been worse,
as the Blue ones had the bases loaded with two outs, but Stephanie Stun Gun Dunniway, making
her first start at pitcher for the injured Sandy Sander Hallstrom, got a Blue man to ground
out to shortstop. The Dreads were able to get a run in the bottom of the first, as Cindy Helmet
Louie scored on a Chris Bootch Burch base hit. That was as close as the game would be, though,
as Blue Lightning cracked for 7 runs in the top of the second. The score remained that way until the
bottom of the fourth, when Vince Snagglepuss Brooks and David Senan (aka Cody Brown) scored
on a Curtis Knocker Nakamura single. Blue Lightning answered with 2 runs in the top of the 5th,
but the Dreads would not give up. They got three more runs in the bottom of the 5th on hits by Eric
Shady Shadle, Bootch, Stun Gun Dunniway, Mary Scott The Chief Senan, and Philip
Phlipper Hallstrom. Unfortunately, lightning struck in the 6th inning, as 6 blue shirts
crossed home plate for an 18-6 win.
Defensive Play of the Game:
2B Shaggy Sheri Smith turned a nice double play in the top of the 4th inning. With 1 out,
and a runner on first, the Shagadelic one scooped up a ground ball, stepped on second for the force,
then made a nice throw to first to complete the three-up three-down inning.
Offensive Play of the Game:
Curtis Knocker Nakamuras clutch base hit in the bottom of the 4th inning with two outs
drove in 2 runs.
Laugh of the Game:
Mary Scott The Chief Senan hit a ground ball that traveled about four feet from the plate,
down the third base line. Amazed by her awesome power, The Chief stood in the batters box, admiring
her work, until the Dreadsox bench erupted with a synchronized yell of RUN!!! The Chief ended
up with an RBI single & the laugh of the game.
