Game Recap:
The Dreadsox got spanked in the second game of the double-header, 28-6. They actually had the lead
after the first inning, as the Sweat Hogs got a run in the top frame, then the Dreads answered with
a 3-run Jay “J-Bang” Matsudaira home run in the bottom frame. The Hogs pretty much put the
game away in the 2nd inning with a demoralizing 11-run inning, during which they played total small
ball, dropping in 14 base hits, and their only extra base hit was a double. The Dreadsox scored
another run in the bottom of the 3rd on a Chris “Bootch” Burch solo home run, but the Damp
Pigs small balled their way to another 16 runs in the 4th inning. The Dreadsox got another couple
runs in the bottom of the 4th, but it wasn’t close to enough, as they dropped their 4th game
in a row.
Defensive Play of the Game:
Despite the two double-digit scoring innings, the Dreadsox defense played decently. They retired the
side 1-2-3 in the 3rd inning, as the Dreadsox outfield of LF Jay “J-Bang” Matsudaira, CF
Susan “Smiley” Lyons, and RF Philip “Phlipper” Hallstrom each recorded an out
on outfield fly balls.
Offensive Play of the Game:
After grumbling something to himself about what he was going to do to the ball, Chris “Bootch”
Burch stepped up to the plate in the bottom of the 3rd inning, and blasted a solo homer.
Laugh of the Game:
Jay “J-Bang” Matsudaira smacked a shot over the right-center fielder’s head in the
bottom of the 1st inning, and raced around the bases, which were occupied by Mary Scott “The
Chief” Senan at second and Kay “K.O.” Ounaphom at first. As he rounded third, J-Bang,
who moves pretty well for a gimp, was on the heals of K.O., who began to nervously exclaim,
“Ooooohhhh, my God... ” as she didn’t want to get run over by J-Bang on their way to
home plate.
