Game Recap:
The Dreadsox completed the sweep of DEA Enforcers with a 5-8 victory in the second game of the double header. The Dreads fell behind early, as the Enforcers ran around the bases like they were on a drug bust, scoring 4 runs in the top of the first inning. The Dreads cut the lead in half in the bottom of the first inning, as Cindy “Helmet” Louie and Jay “J-Bang” Matsudaira reached on singles, then Susan “Smiley” Lyons belted them home with a triple over the left fielder’s head. The Dreadsox defense stepped up in the second inning, holding the DEA crew at bay with the same determination as Al Pacino’s character, Tony Montana, in the final scene of the movie “Scarface”, allowing only one hit and no runs. The Dreads then took the lead in the bottom of the 2nd, thanks in part to a lead-off home run by Vince “Snagglepuss” Brooks. The Dreads got then got 2 more runs in the inning for a 4-5 lead. The Enforcers forced a tie in the top of the third, gettting a lead-off double, which later scored. But the Dreadsox were undaunted, as Kurt “Li’l Hurt” Hayashida (who was still a bit nervous at the plate after striking out in an at-bat in the first game) worked a full count for a walk, then scored when J-Bang smacked a homer to center field. Smiley Lyons then doubled, and scored on a Marc “Psycho” Nagle base hit for a 8-5 Dreadsox lead. The Dreadsox defense held again in the top of the 4th, shutting down the DEA batons for an 8-5 final score.

Defensive Play of the Game:
With runners on first and second, and 1 out in the top of the 1st inning, DEA Enforcer’s Manuel hit a blooper to shallow left field. LF Jay “J-Bang” Matsudaira charged in, but was unable to make the catch, as the ball landed about 5 feet in front of him. He caught the ball on the bounce, and noticed that the runner coming from second was only half-way to third, as she had been waiting to see if he would make the catch. J-Bang fired a surprisingly accurate shot to third baseman Vince “Snagglepuss” Brooks, who made the catch in time for the force out.

Offensive Play of the Game:
Vince “Snaggelpuss” Brooks got his first career home run while leading off the bottom of the 2nd inning. His rocket shot got by the right fielder, and the 4-person relay to home was not in time to get Snagglepuss, as he kicked up his crazy legs and sped around the bases.

Laugh of the Game:
After making a couple wild throws in the first game, SS Chris “Bootch” Burch had a soft ground ball hit to him. Knowing he’d hear some razzing from his teammates no matter if he made a good throw or a bad one, he began chuckling to himself before he threw the runner out at first.
