Game Recap:
The Dreadsox kept the second game against Legal Beagles closer than the first.
After digging themselves a quick 8-2 hole after two innings, the Dreads held
the Beagles scoreless for the next 4 innings while pecking away at the lead with
2 runs in the third inning and 1 run in both the 4th and 5th innings. The Dreads
actually pulled ahead in the bottom of the 6th inning when Eric Shady
Shadle blasted a 3-run homer with 2 outs. The Dreads then loaded the bases and
were looking to build on the lead, but Jay J-Bang Matsudairas
attempt to pick on the Beagle right fielder (whom he had been exploiting all day)
was lifted too high, allowing the shaky fielder to track down the fly ball. The
Dreads lost the lead in the top of the seventh, as the Beagles used another 2-base
walk (this particular Beagles FOURTH walk of the day) to force in a run and
load the bases en route to a 5-run inning. The Dreads were able to get a run back
in the bottom of the final frame, and had the tying run at the plate, but Matt
T1 Tregoning wish I had that one back pop-up to
shortstop ended the game with a final score of 13-10
Defensive Play of the Game:
With runners on first and second in the 4th inning, one of the Beagle ladies hit
a sharp ground ball that bounced off of Dreadsox 2nd basewoman Deanna T1
Tregoning, and ricocheted to husband Matt T1 Tregoning at shortstop.
T1 fired to Sara SFP Perry at third base in time to get a 4-6-5 force
out.
Offensive Play of the Game:
Eric Shady Shadles go-ahead 3-run homer in the 6th wasn his
only productive hit of the game. His other 2 at-bats produced 2 doubles, after which
he came around to score 2 runs.
Laugh of the Game:
Matt T1 Tregoning has been a nice replacement at shortstop for Chris
Bootch Burch, who retired after last season with a knee injury. Similar
to Bootch, T1 scoops up ground balls nicely, but lets loose with an occassional wild
throw... as displayed with his two throwing errors in the first inning.
