Game Recap:
The Dreadsox got another win versus the Fockers in the second game of the double
header. The Dreads let the Fockers take an early 2-0 lead, and still trailed 2-3
after 3 innings. Then the Dreads decided to go to work. THey got seven runs in the
4th inning, 3 in the 5th, and 2 more in the 6th before the game ended with the 10-run
mercy rule with a final score of 14-4.
Defensive Play of the Game:
Philip Phlipper Hallstroms pitching and solid defense behind him
allowed for only 4 extra base hits by the Fockers in the game.
Offensive Play of the Game:
With 14 players in the Dreadsox lineup, Stephanie Stun Gun Dunniway finally
got a chance to bat in the bottom of the 4th inning. She must have had some pent up
energy working for her, as she blasted a lead-off double. She got another opportunity
with 2 outs in the 5th inning, and delivered by smacking another double for an RBI.
Laugh of the Game:
Leading off the top of the third inning, Philip Phlipper Hallstom drove
a shot deep the opposite way to left field. He got on his dolphin... er, horse.. and
raced around the bases. As the throw in from the outfield was on its way to the relay
man, Phlipper rounded third. The shortstop caught and threw home to the pitcher covering,
but it was too late, as Phlipper avoided the tag attempt and stepped on home plate. The
umpire, however, missed the call (he later admitted to this), and the Dreadsox bench
erupted in a chorus of boos, jeers, and exclamations of disbelief. Some of the ribbing
that the umpire was getting was real, yet he found it pretty amusing.
